A Somerset farmer has proposed to his girlfriend by mowing "marry me" into his field and surprising her at sunset.

Morley thought she was just bringing Heal dinner, but when she arrived at the field near Hinkley Point, she discovered the massive letters carved into the grass.

"I was in complete shock," she said.

The couple, together for four years, had discussed marriage but the timing was unexpected for Morley.

"I was shaking, I couldn't even open the door," she recalled.

Heal's aunt Jenny praised the unique proposal, saying "It's about time" and welcoming Morley into the family. "We've all been hoping and waiting. And he did it in his true fashion," she said.

"I don't think he could have done it in a better way. I'm thrilled and excited".

After a photo of the field circulated online with the caption "So...did you get an answer?!", the newly engaged couple received many congratulations.

They plan to wed next September.
