Ex-top British Ambassador now fighting for Fairtrade

By Oliver Masley, 13, Jill Dando News Correspondent

Andy Ashcroft, a former ambassador to the Dominican Republic and WCSA student, visited Worle Community School Academy to take part in lessons and take part in an interview from the Jill Dando News Team.

As the co-founding partner of Koolskools, the UK’s only fairtrade school uniform company, which obtained its fair trade licence in 2010, he achieved his ambition: to build a successful fair trade clothing brand designed to support vulnerable cotton farmers and clothing factory workers in developing countries.

When speaking about his past, he revealed many talents, such as playing brass instruments and playing football at WCSA and then achieving a scholarship to Millfield.

In no time, he was working at the foreign office, travelling the globe to places like Oman, Israel, Zimbabwe, and the Dominican Republic!

Also, he was still inspiring people with his music, performing to people in Dominican prisons!
