Eco star campaigner backed by Alan Titchmarsh wins double awards at ceremony

Archie Matthews of Worle Community School Academy in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset won the Jack Clark/CJR Award and the Outstanding Contribution to School Life Award. 

In a fantastic double award taking, Archie was commended for his superb character, dedication and kindness.

Amid over 50 students rewarded, Ginny Rulli-Gibbs won the The Gill McLorinan Music Achievement Award, Lexie Churchill achieved the Laboratory Champion of the Year Award and others were commended for their work and character.

Earlier this year inspirational Archie received a personal letter and signed autograph from TV gardening legend Mr Titchmarsh following his incredible eco work over many years.
He has been part of Jill Dando News since it was created five years ago.

Archie is also the Eco President successor to Head Boy and UK COP26 representative Jack Clark – who graduated from the school to attend The King Alfred School Academy Sixth Form.

In a letter to Archie, TV’s Alan said: “I’m absolutely delighted that you have taken to gardening, especially since it involves the school of someone I know and admired – Jill Dando.

“Do keep on growing things. It is so important and I am cheered to think that you have decided to join me on my mission to spread the word about its importance to others.

“Good luck in all you do”.

Archie said: “Mr Titchmarsh is a hero of mine. I would love to be a TV gardener one day.
