Two years of supporting dogs in Cardiff celebrated

Dogs Trust, the nation’s leading dog welfare charity has celebrated two years of supporting dogs in Cardiff with a special event at its Cardiff Rehoming Centre.

In its first two years, the charity has successfully found forever homes for 1,347 dogs creating countless heartwarming stories of companionship and love. 

Held on Saturday, July 15th, the celebration took place at its rehoming centre, bringing together around 400 supporters, notable figures, and dog enthusiasts from across Wales, raising £1,600 for the charity.

The event was attended by notable figures, including BBC Wales presenter Liz Clement, and the Lord Mayor of Cardiff, Cllr Bablin Molik. Attendees had the opportunity to explore stalls, participate in games, and enter a raffle. 

The organisation’s dedicated staff and volunteers were on hand to provide valuable insights and answer questions regarding various aspects of dog welfare. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about fostering, the Freedom Project Wales, and volunteering opportunities. 

A highlight of the celebration was the unveiling of a large model cake. As a symbolic gesture, Liz Clement cut a ribbon, signifying the grand opening of Dogs Trust Cardiff’s new rehoming centre. 

Since its establishment, Dogs Trust Cardiff has been a pillar of support for both dogs and their owners. In addition to rehoming over 1,300 dogs, the organisation has helped hundreds of families through its Dog School and the opening of its dog food bank.

With 78 kennels and the capacity to accommodate up to 156 dogs, Dogs Trust Cardiff ensures a safe and comfortable environment for their canine residents.
