Daring Doreen, 79, wows by taking up weightlifting! (By Oliver, 13)

‘The word retired gives the wrong message’, according to Doreen Marshall, who is planning to ‘go out with a bang.’

A resident of Winterbourne in South Gloucestershire, England, the stunning 79 year old Doreen Marshall, has 8 children, 21 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, with another two on the way! 

And as if that isn’t a big enough task, she has been inspired by her son to take up weightlifting! 

She believes that life is what you make of it, and hopes to inspire more to feel the same, so she lifts 100kg weights for leisure, she is re-learning to drive a motorbike, and is even trying skydiving! 

She has tasked herself with a weightlifting competition for when she is eighty.

Her son, Andrew, told ITV news: “The greatest compliment I can give her is the fact that everyone around her feels uplifted for being around her.”

Doreen wants to promote a good lifestyle and told Bristol Live that she is ‘inspiring other people, men and women of all ages that they have it within themselves just to focus on it.’
