Clevedon School in North Somerset has been selected to take part in a groundbreaking Government-backed scheme aimed at improving dental hygiene across the UK.

Following the success of the primary school teeth brushing initiative, Clevedon is one of just 100 secondary schools nationwide chosen to trial the 'Young Smiles Strategy', a supervised tooth brushing program led by TV Dentist Prof. A Lilo.

Starting next term, Clevedon School students will take part in daily, timetabled morning and afternoon brushing sessions, designed to promote good oral hygiene habits for life.

This initiative is part of the UK's ongoing effort to combat the growing cavity crisis, and Clevedon is proud to be at the forefront of this important work.

To mark this milestone, Colgate has created a special edition Clevedon School Black & Gold toothbrush, allowing students to brush with school spirit.

Additionally, limited-edition house-coloured toothpaste will be provided, designed to show up plaque in each House’s colour, adding an element of fun and competition to the program.

As part of the project, students will be required to purchase the approved toothbrush and house toothpaste, which are now available at a 50% discount via ParentPay.

However, this special offer expires at midday today, so families are encouraged to order quickly.

In a further exciting development, the school’s Learning Village will be repurposed as the ‘Plaque Attack Centre’—a dedicated space for teeth brushing, complete with sinks, mirrors, and two-minute bursts of music to ensure students brush for the recommended duration.

Mr Smith who has never had a filling due to his commitment to careful brushing, expressed his excitement about the program: “We’re thrilled to be involved in this initiative and are adding ‘Be Fresh’ to our school motto for the next 12 months as part of this prestigious pilot scheme.”

Clevedon School is excited to be part of this national effort and encourages families to order their limited-edition toothbrushes and toothpaste quickly, as stock is expected to sell out fast!
