Christmas Spirit as Community Comes Together to Raise Over £500 for Visionary Primary School
By Jill Dando News
The community surrounding Willowdown Primary School in Bridgwater, Somerset, has shown incredible generosity this Christmas, raising more than £500 to support the school and its pupils.
In an extraordinary display of teamwork and festive spirit, the school’s Student Council kick-started the initiative by voting to raise funds for new monkey bars for the playground.
The community quickly rallied to help, with local businesses making generous contributions.
Tesco donated food, drinks, and three luxury hampers for the school’s Christmas fair, while Morrisons provided an astonishing 250 selection boxes for Father Christmas to hand out to students.
Mole Valley Farmers joined in the festive cheer by donating a beautiful Christmas tree, with Willowdown’s choir giving a heartwarming performance in return at the store.
The community coming together meant the school’s Christmas fair was a huge success, raising over £500 towards the much-needed playground equipment.
Headteacher Matt Cave said:
“We are absolutely delighted with the support we’ve received from the community and local businesses - truly incredible.
“This is a demonstration of the community coming together at its very best. Thanks to everyone who supported such a brilliant cause.”
