October is Restart A Heart Month when events are put on encouraging people to learn CPR.

The community in Weston super Mare, Somerset has supported the Donate for Defib Weston-super-Mare Project in enabling publicly accessible defibrillators to be placed in venues throughout the town.

And thanks to the community fundraising they now have many more Publicly accessible defibrillators and many more on order or waiting to be installed.

Many people are still unsure how to use a defibrillator in an emergency and many people do not know how to do CPR.

The Restart a Heart Event will demonstrate how easy defibrillators are to use and the importance of starting CPR if someone has a cardiac arrest.

Learning these skills gives people confidence so in the event they are the first person on the scene when somebody suffers a cardiac arrest they can confidently start CPR and if a defibrillator is available know how to use it.

Nobody knows when something like this can happen it could be to a family member, a friend, a work colleague, or somebody on the street.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “Come and join us on Wednesday 16th October by learning these skills it can ensure that anybody having a sudden cardiac arrest has the best chance of survival.”

The Restart a Heart event will be run by the Donate for Defib Weston-super-Mare Project team and will be at The Sovereign Centre, running from 10.00 - 13.00 on Wed 16th October 2024.

The spokesperson added: “We hope to see you there.”
