A whole street of businesses turned blue to help a charity backed by Jill Dando and her former school.

Weston Hospice Care

Weston Hospicecare fundraisers were delighted that businesses throughout Worle High Street in Weston-super-Mare backed the Blue for You initiative.

The inspirational charity was backed by Jill Dando when she alive and has been supported by her former school Worle Community School Academy and The Priory Learning Trust. The current COO of the Trust, Mark Antoine, is a Trustee of the charity.

Blue for you is a fundraising awareness campaign which runs parallel to Hospice UK‘s Hospice Care Week.

Jill Dando was a patron and massive supporter of Weston Hospicecare. After her death, Sir Cliff Richard did an event on the Grand Pier to raise money for the charity.

Abi Smart, Community Fundraiser, said: “A huge thank you to everyone in Worle High Street for getting stuck in to Blue for You.

“A big thanks to WMUK Mobility, Lloyds Bank, Renew 193, Mr Beans, NK TeamWear, Muffins, The Malthouse, Broskis, The Old Kings Head, Home Instead, Mayfair, Astills, Headlines, Worle Florists and everyone else who is supporting us!

“I’m thrilled by the response from our incredible community!”

It costs £7.64 every minute to run Weston Hospicecare meaning community support is absolutely crucial to run vital services.

Weston Hospicecare provide palliative care through an Inpatient Unit, Day Service provision, Wellbeing Centre, Community Nurses and a Family Support Team.
