Emmaus UK has partnered with building materials supplier wienerberger to boost skills and employment opportunities for people with experience of homelessness.

The partnership includes transformative financial support for people at Emmaus communities, known as ‘companions’, to learn new skills and gain qualifications which can lead to employment.

The company has donated £10,000 to Emmaus UK’s Companion Training and Wellbeing Fund, which is awarded to people looking to access training and education.

Robyn Cummins, Director of Fundraising and Influence at Emmaus UK, said:

“Emmaus are really excited about the future of our partnership with wienerberger.
“With a combination of a corporate donation, colleague fundraising, training opportunities and product donations, we look forward to seeing the positive impact this partnership will have on our companions and communities.”

The exciting new partnership also unlocks product donations to build and renovate Emmaus buildings, and opportunities for wienerberger’s employees to volunteer for the charity.

It comes as part of the company’s new social impact strategy, which centres on meaningful action to help prevent homelessness and support people with experience of homelessness to get back on their feet.

Simon Nevitt, Chief Manufacturing Officer at wienerberger UK and Ireland, said:

“We have a responsibility as a leading provider of building solutions to create value for our communities and play an active role in the areas in which we operate.
“Our social impact strategy is just the beginning of our commitment that will deliver ambitious, positive and long-lasting impact for our people, our partners, and our communities.”
