Budding mathematicians graduate from masterclass at top university

Inspirational Year 8 students from Worle Community School Academy have graduated from a six-week Mathematical Masterclass programme at the University of the West of England.

During the six-week course taken on Saturday mornings in their own time, some of the Somerset schoo’s brightest students in maths investigated topics such as cryptography and matrix transformations. The students also met Chris Budd, who saves whales in Canada by using Pythagoras.

Head of Maths Sean Wood said “This was all voluntary and the students did WCSA proud. It gives us immense pride to see how good they are at a core subject at the age of 12 and 13.”
