Budding Eco-Physicists Win £500 STEM Prize for Inspiring Environmental Action

A group of Year 10 students from Clevedon School in North Somerset, UK has won a prestigious £500 prize for their outstanding environmental research and community impact.

The inspirational budding eco-physicists investigated Clevedon’s local environment, creating a powerful presentation that sparked meaningful discussions about sustainability. 

Their work not only impressed their peers but also inspired Year 13 students to engage their parents in the conversation, creating a ripple effect of awareness throughout the community.

The students’ efforts earned them the top prize in a national competition run by UK-SOS, an education charity dedicated to empowering young people through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) projects.

The prize money will be used to purchase equipment to further the students’ investigations into sustainability and climate change. 

Their ongoing mission includes maintaining the prestigious Green Flag distinction awarded to the schoollast year.

UK-SOS has pledged ongoing support to ClevedonSchool’s environmental initiatives, further encouraging the students’ passion for making a difference.

Jo Carrington, Director of English at Clevedon School, said: “The students were magnificent I am incredibly proud of their commitment to drive positive change. 
“Their passion for engaging our local and wider community in vital conversations about sustainability is truly impressive.”
