The British Army Infantry visited Priory Community School, in Weston-Super-Mare to help students build skills for their future.
They came on Friday 14th February with new, fun, and different activities for Year 9 to enjoy before the half term ended.

The day began with a compelling assembly, educating the teenagers about the Armed Forces and everything they do in those divisions. It included information on roles, responsibilities and opportunities.
Students were introduced to possible career paths with the Armed Forces and were inspired to consider which skills were important.

Activities were made accessible for all and students then rotated around a number of engaging challenges in school venues.

Throughout the entire day, students were presented with a large bag full of a variety of small plastic pieces. In a ‘Dragon’s Den style’ challenge, they were asked to make something useful for the Army in just twenty minutes - something which they could then pitch to the army leaders.

One group made a stretcher with wheels and another created an impressive wheelchair which could potentially help injured personnel.
Another activity they did was a plank competition where each student had the chance to do a plank, then tap buttons corresponding to the colour they were told.
Students then had the chance to rotate and enjoy more activities in the style of a child-friendly Army warm-up.
Sarah O’Gorman, the Citizenship Coordinator at Priory Community School, commented: ‘it was brilliant to see students enthusiastic, busy and engaged all day in tasks which got them thinking or practicing skills’.
