Academy donates stationery to the town’s Foodbank, following up on a monumental giving month

By Jill Dando News

Last month, big hearted students, parents, carers, staff at Priory Community School Academy collected a whopping 847kilos of food for Weston-super-Mare Foodbank.

Now they are collecting stationery that will be distributed to families via the same Somerset Foodbank.

The academy is doing the project in partnership with the UK Community Interest Company Heart Felt Tips.

Principal Angelos Markoutsas said: “This is another tremendous project. We are seeing incredible giving right across our Academy and our community, with generosity of our students, their families and our staff.”

Heart Felt Tips organises for UK children who are suffering economic hardship to receive pencil cases packed with pens and other art supplies.

The pencil cases are filled by children, and then distributed via frontline food banks, children’s charities and hospitals, and faith centres; ensuring that the most deserving kids receive them quickly.

Along with teaching the importance of recycling and donating Heart Felt Tips also helps build empathy, enabling the luckier children who help by filling the cases to understand that there are people in their local community who are no different to them but in need of extra support.

PCSA is a true community school that inspires citizens of the future that care for others. It is part of The Priory Learning Trust.
