Amazing school among top in Britain after incredible student achievement

A Wonderful Worle duo top the nation as academy celebrates another excellent set of GCSE results.

Iris Mayne and Jessica Loveridge of Worle Community School Academy both achieved stunning, incredibly rare nine Grade 9s and eight Grade 9s, making the academy one of the only British state secondaries to have two such students with the accolade.

Their stunning success came as WCSA students again celebrate another set of brilliant GCSE results.

Some 13% of students achieved grades 9-7, while 44% scored grades 9-5, and 67% had grades 9-4.

Iris and Jessica’s amazing 9s achievement is remarkable and only a few schools nationally will see two of its students achieve the feat. Iris got a clean sweep of nine grade 9s while Jessica achieve eight grade 9s, one grade 8, and a A* in further maths.

Gabriel Guse achieved both English and maths despite only arriving from Bulgaria in October with minimal English. He immersed himself into school, was very well liked by all the Year 11 students and his English has improved tremendously.

The results follow a brilliant three years for WCSA since being led by The Priory Learning Trust and Principal Jacqui Scott.

Iris now plans to do A Levels in maths, further maths, and chemistry and physics.

Jessica now is to study A Levels at Weston College in further maths, English literature and French.

Jacqui said: “We are so thrilled for every single one of our students who have worked so hard over the last two years. We want to celebrate every success.

“Jessica and Iris have done amazing and we are thrilled for them and their hard work.

“We want to thank the students, parents and carers, community and governors for all their support.”
