Local housing association Alliance Homes has launched its 2025 Communities Together Grants, offering funding of up to £7,500 to support projects that build stronger, connected communities.

The grants, which range from £50 to £7,500 are open to charities, community groups and organisations across North Somerset, Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Sedgemoor in Somerset. The aim is to support local groups to deliver projects that benefit Alliance Homes’ customers and communities, connecting people and helping them lead happier, more independent lives.

The funding can be used for a wide range of activities, from running local events to improving access to essential services, as long as the proposed projects demonstrate how they will benefit Alliance Homes customers.

Cath Pullin, Service Director for Customer Service Operations at Alliance Homes, said:

“We know how vital small grants can be for communities. Through this programme, we’re proud to support initiatives that bring people together, tackle challenges like loneliness, and make a positive difference. I look forward to seeing the ideas our communities come up with, and hearing about the impact they have on people living in our region and neighbourhoods.”

Last year, Alliance Homes awarded a total of £27,500 to various local projects through the Communities Together Grants.

The Pill Community Foundation’s Resource Centre received £3,500 in 2024, to improve digital connectivity and access to support services for local residents.

Sue Adamson, a volunteer at the Resource Centre, described the funding as “transformative”, adding: “We’re now better equipped to connect people with the information and support they need."

The Serendipity Craft Group, based in the Coronation neighbourhood of Weston-super-Mare, was awarded funding in 2023 to help them bring people together to tackle loneliness and isolation through arts and crafts.

The grant enabled the group to purchase new art materials, experiment with their projects and learn new skills.

Applications are open until Sunday 16 February 2025, and will be reviewed by a panel of Alliance Homes customers, making sure that decisions reflect the needs of local communities.
