The holiday spirit came roaring in at Animals Asia’s Vietnam sanctuaries, where over 200 rescued bears celebrated the end of the year, and their newfound freedom, with a party that was as heartwarming as it was “un-bear-lievably” joyous.

With their playful paws and curious noses, the moon and sun bears made the event a bear-y memorable one - opening gifts sealed with cooked oatmeal and foraging for treats.

Mischief was in the air as Bear Tango channelled his inner Grinch, attempting to swipe the Christmas tree!

An opened gift box sparked a hilarious bear-sized tug-of-war, while straw decorations quickly turned into wrestling pillows in a whirlwind of creative chaos. Popcorn strings and fruit popsicles were the stars of the festive menu, earning an enthusiastic two paws up from the bears.

Meanwhile, wallflower beauties Bear Calissa and Crescent kept things mellow, enjoying their treats from the sidelines as they watched the joyful antics unfold. It was a bear-y merry Christmas for all!

This celebration marked a new chapter for these majestic animals. After enduring decades of unimaginable suffering in small, dark and rusty cages for the bear bile industry, they are now free to embrace life to the fullest.

At Animals Asia’s sanctuary, they finally receive the care, freedom, and love they have always deserved.

Animals Asia has rescued nearly 700 bears and is on the verge of making history by putting an end to bear bile farming in Vietnam. This groundbreaking achievement is the result of a collaborative effort with the Vietnamese government, local communities, traditional medicine practitioners, schools, and civic society.

At Animals Asia’s three award-winning sanctuaries across Asia, every rescued bear enjoys a life rich with play, foraging, and natural behaviours.

Supported by holistic care that addresses their physical, mental, and emotional well-being, these bears thrive in an environment designed for their happiness. Seeing them embrace their freedom this Christmas is a heartwarming reminder of the transformative power of kindness in action.
